The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) said Tuesday it will convene its 24th annual general meeting of shareholders (AGM) in Kigali, Rwanda, from June 28 to July 1.

World Trade Organisation director-general Roberto Azevedo, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina are expected to speak at the event.

Activities at the AGM will include two days of seminars where member countries will explore the prospects for accelerating economic development and transformation of African economies through trade.

This will be followed on June 30 by a meeting of the Afreximbank Advisory Group on Trade Finance and Export Development in Africa, focusing on the continents’ trade opportunities in a world of rising protectionism.

An investment forum, hosted by the Rwandan government and a trade exhibition will also take place on June 30.

The AGM activities will conclude on July 1 with the formal AGM and a leaders’ roundtable.
