NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, May 18, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- It was announced today that the Israel Tennis Centers Foundation student team will be swinging back to the US with an early Summer exhibition tour of the East Coast.

“When we opened our first center in 1976, no one could have dreamed how much our work has transformed the lives of so many Israeli children, preparing them for life” said ITC Founder Bill Lippy. “And to see how the organization has grown from a single center to 14 locations, strategically built in underprivileged communities throughout Israel, is gratifying beyond belief.”

Today in Israel, over 1/3 of the children live below or near the poverty line.

For over 40 years, Israel Tennis Centers Foundation, has been dedicated to helping Israeli children of all backgrounds to coexist in a safe environment while learning invaluable life skills through the sport of tennis. The goal has always been to positively impact the young people in Israel and create lasting peace in one of the most turbulent areas in the world. “Through the skills learned on the court, we teach our children inclusiveness, unity, respect, diversity and caring," states Jacqueline Glodstein, Executive Vice President of Global Development. "We believe that this will set them on the path to a brighter and more successful future."

On Wednesday, May 30th, the Israel Tennis Centers Foundation junior team will arrive in New York from Tel Aviv. The first exhibition and fundraiser will take place in Brooklyn, NY at Matchpoint Tennis on Thursday, May 31st. The team will then travel around the NY Metro area, making stops in the Bronx, Westchester and northern New Jersey. From there, they will head south and wrap up in Atlanta. The team will be in the US from May 30th through June 11th, when they head back to Israel.

The tour schedule includes the following exhibitions and events:
Brooklyn, NY – MatchPoint Tennis – Thursday, May 31st
Riverdale, NY – Riverdale Tennis Center - Friday, June 1st
Short Hills, NJ – Private Home – Friday, June 8th
Atlanta, GA – Dunwoody Country Club – Sunday, June 10th

The team includes a diverse group of Israeli junior tennis players and their coach representing various Israel Tennis Centers. During their US appearances, in addition to playing tennis, they will share their personal stories about what the ITC has meant to them, their families and the communities in which they live.

For these children, and 20,000 others every year, the ITC is a safe and nurturing environment where they learn vital life skills and values through the sport of tennis. On any given day, ITC provides a supportive community that fosters physical and mental well-being as well tutoring and healthy meals.

The focus of ITC is on changing children’s lives every day, so they can become better human beings. Through its social impact programs, a wide range of children are served, including youth at risk; immigrants from countries around the globe like Ethiopia and Russia; Children with special needs, from autism and ADHD to Down Syndrome, as well as those with developmental and physical disabilities. The ITC also recognizes the ability of tennis to bring together children from different religions as seen in its highly successful Coexistence Program.

“We are thrilled to provide our children with this tremendous growth opportunity, to travel to the US, play in these great tennis communities and serve as ambassadors for Israel abroad,” states Joyce Pernin, President, Israel Tennis Centers Foundation. “It is phenomenal to witness these children learning so much by having this unique experience to meet some of the wonderful people who support them. Children from the US benefit as well by connecting with and getting to know Israelis their own age, from different cultures and developing friendships.”
